JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Digital Content Creator

DEPARTMENT: Administrative Center

REPORTS TO: Director of Communications

Job Goal:

The Digital Content Creator will be responsible for creating a variety of high quality and engaging content for use across a variety of digital platforms to proactively and continuously improve connections within the school community at the local, state, and national levels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop digital content including video, photography, graphic images, and other interactive content to support Edmond Public Schools digital communications platforms and aid in parent, and community understanding of district programs, initiatives and services as well as staff recruitment and retention.
  1. Research, write, and create content for Edmond Public Schools existing social media platforms (and creation of future platforms) to proactively share the district’s story, increasing engagement and reach.
  1. Research, write, and/or create content for Edmond Public Schools website and separate school websites.
  1. Proactively monitor district and school websites to help ensure information is updated, accurate, and delivering a quality user experience.
  1. Assist in training of and troubleshooting for site webmasters and produce/edit training materials to support site webmasters.
  1. Ensure all online content and tools are optimized for search and ensure all online content adheres to the district’s visual identity, as well as ADA standards.
  1. Using appropriate analytics, monitor success of overall digital activity, identify trends and insights, and recommend areas for improvement.
  1. Regularly review internal policies, best practices, and ADA website guidelines to ensure compliance with W3C regulations.
  1. Work with vendor(s) to ensure backups and updates are managed and utilized for maximum uptime.
  1. Assist with standard and emergency parent notifications and identify vendors, trends and insights for emergency notifications, and recommend areas for improvement.
  1. Serve on committees as assigned.
  1. Perform all tasks with sensitivity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  1. Perform other duties as assigned.

Length of Contract: Two hundred forty (240) contract days.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Director of Communications in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policies and state law.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree preferred, with a minimum of 3 years work-related experience ideally in journalism, photojournalism, content marketing, public relations or communications. Demonstrated aptitude for communications work. Passion for storytelling and digital media. Proficient in video storytelling and /video editing. Demonstrated ability to develop content and write clearly, concisely and on deadline for website, social media platforms or other outlets with a general audience. Attention to detail and a strong knowledge of AP Style. Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms. Experience working in website content management systems ideally editing content on large scale websites. Basic understanding of HTML and CSS. Knowledge of Google Analytics required. Familiarity with email marketing platforms (Constant Contact, MailChimp) a plus. Experience with Adobe products (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) a plus. Must be detail-oriented with an ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities to meet challenging timelines and deliver high-quality end products. Must be able and willing to work occasional evenings and weekends with an attitude of doing what it takes to get the job done. Needs to be a self-starter able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. A willingness to learn is a must. Such alternatives to the above experience as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, staff, parents, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to plan budgets and use the mathematical skills required to do so. Maintain accurate records and support documentation for projects under the supervision of the position.

REASONABLE ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to use computer and computer related programs and other technologies needed to perform essential job functions. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community. Ability to organize and chair or facilitate committees and meetings. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
