JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Finish Carpentry
Department: Maintenance
Immediate Supervisor: Maintenance Supervisor or Designee

Job Goal: Assume primary responsibility for the safe condition of all structural elements of the facilities owned or operated by the district.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participate in all carpentry duties as required or needed by the district.
2. Assume responsibility for the safe condition of flooring, doors, windows, staircases, stair treads, ramps, roofs, walls, ceiling, hardware and similar structural elements owned or operated by the district.
3. Determine which repair job may be performed by carpenters and custodians on the staff and recommends which must be performed by outside contractors and advises his immediate supervisor accordingly.
4. Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase and maintain an inventory of hand tools, equipment hardware, non-expendable materials and supplies.
5. Estimate cost of carpentry repair projects in terms of labor, materials and overhead.
6. Examine district-owned facilities on a regular basis for the purpose of preventive maintenance.
7. Keep accurate inventory of parts, supplies and tools.
8. Keep immediate supervisor advised at all times of activities and progress.
9. Comply with all relevant local, state and national building and safety codes.
10. Other duties may be assigned

Length of Contract: Two hundred forty-five (245) contract days.
Salary commensurate with experience on the negotiated agreement of the Support
Employees of Edmond (SEE).
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Maintenance
Supervisor in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policies, state law, and the negotiated agreement with the Support Employees of Edmond (SEE).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:
None.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid drivers license and a driving record that is acceptable to the school’s insurance carrier.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, staff, parents, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to plan budgets and use the mathematical skills required to do so. Maintain accurate records and support documentation for projects under the supervision of the position.

REASONING SKILLS:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Ability to read and follow blue prints. Ability to develop a set of working drawings and specifications. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to perform hand and machine operations necessary to layout, cut, shape, and assemble high-quality fixtures and construction projects.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as building materials. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 lbs such as bulk furniture. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, scaffolds, and cabinets. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and will occasionally work outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally will work in a loud area.
