JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Painting Leadman

Department: Maintenance

Immediate Supervisor: Maintenance Supervisor or Designee

Job Goal: Assume the primary responsibility for the application of all finishes used on structures owned and operated by the district.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervise and participate in all painting duties as required or needed by the

district.

  1. Schedule facilities for routine painting needs.
  1. Drywall finishing and repair.
  1. Recommend coatings for District needs.
  1. Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase.
  1. Estimate cost of painting projects.
  1. Procure material and keep inventory of supplies used.
  1. Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase, and maintain an inventory of hand tools, equipment hardware, non-expendable materials and supplies.
  1. Examine district-owned facilities on a regular basis for the purpose of preventive maintenance.
  1. Comply with all relevant Local, State, and National Building and safety codes.
  1. Keep accurate inventory of parts, supplies, and tasks 
  1. Keep supervisors advised, at all times, of activities and progress.
  1. Other duties may be assigned.

Length of Contract: Two hundred forty-five (245) contract days. 

Salary commensurate with experience on the negotiated agreement of the Support

Employees of Edmond (SEE).

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Maintenance

Supervisor in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policies, state law, and the

negotiated agreement with the Support Employees of Edmond (SEE).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:

Supervises painting employees.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Five (5) years experience in professional painting. Ability to develop a set of working drawings and specifications. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to perform hand and machine operations necessary to apply finishes. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid drivers license and a driving record that is acceptable to the school’s insurance carrier.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, staff, parents, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to plan budgets and use the mathematical skills required to do so. Maintain accurate records and support documentation for projects under the supervision of the position.

REASONING SKILLS:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Sit, stand, walk, and crawl on occasion. Balance, push, pull, and lift up to 100 pounds occasionally. Bend, stoop, climb up to twelve (12) feet, reach above shoulder level and lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds frequently. Requires repetitive hand/eye coordination, firm grasping, working on unprotected heights, working around moving machinery, driving automotive equipment, exposure to temperature changes, dust, gasses and fumes. Subject to high noise levels.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and will work outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally will work in a loud area.
