Reports To: Coordinator Student Support Services Salary: This is a full-time twelve (12) month position at 232 days with an annual salary range of $70,039 - $87,020. Primary Purpose:
Provide technical assistance and training to ESC Region 13 clients for the development and implementation of programs to improve the performance of students with dyslexia and related disorders
Assist districts in addressing legal and programmatic issues
Collaborate with dyslexia service organizations
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree (required)
Master's preferred English Language Arts concentration
Dyslexia Therapist or equivalent
Documented training in dyslexia interventions
Experience:
Five (5) years classroom teaching experience in dyslexia services
Leadership position at campus or district level (administrative experience preferred)
Experience in self-directed and team work
Training experience in dyslexia interventions
Working knowledge of reading assessments
Bilingual (preferred but not required)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong organizational, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of systematic planning strategies
Knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
Thorough understanding of dyslexia rules and procedures
Knowledge of multiple programs/interventions for students with dyslexia and related disorders
Knowledge of 504 and special education
Current knowledge of curriculum trends, instruction, technology, assessment, and school systems
Knowledge of second language acquisition and dyslexia issues for English language learners
Responsibilities:
Serve as a representative of ESC Region 13, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community
Understand and meet ESC Region 13 client needs in the areas of dyslexia and related disorders , state and federal accountability.
Communicate with ESC Region 13 clients in the area of dyslexia, and related disorders
Deliver ESC Region 13 products and services in the area of dyslexia, related disorders and evaluation of student learning needs
Understand and use ESC Region 13 internal systems
Perform other duties as assigned
Equipment Used:
Telephone, fax, copier, computer and peripherals, other equipment as requirements change
Working Conditions:
Prolonged or irregular work hours
Follow policies and porcedures
Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds
Willingness and ability to travel frequently in and out of ESC Region 13
