Position Available: Health Occupation Instructor LPN

Summary of Position Functions:

Provides engaging instruction, administers tests, and evaluates student progress on their understanding, and proficiency in their assigned field of Career & Technical Training.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide students with industry-recognized, engaging instruction, and hands-on training. 
  • Develop and prepare lessons; recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.
  • Administer and correct tests; log and maintain progress and attendance.
  • Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs
  • Tutor, coach, evaluate, and assist each student as needed.
  • Evaluate and supervise students in on-the-job training experiences.
  • Evaluate student progress, understanding, and proficiency.
  • Motivate and counsel students in behavior, training, personal problems, or safety habits.
  • Evaluate and supervise students in an on-the-job training experience. 
  • Participate in providing hands-on activities for students in the career Preparation program. 

Skills/Competencies:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional strategies, classroom management, and content field
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent customer service skills
  • High energy level and ability to engage students 
  • Ability to quickly learn the Job Corps Methodologies and strategies 
  • Ability to use different methods and mediums in delivering course material 
  • Ability to effectively respond to student issues as they arise
  • Must be proficient in using common computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. 
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be driven, self-motivated, and have an honorable work ethic.
  • Must be dependable, compassionate, and loves to work with the youth!
  • Proficient in using computers and common computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other career and job search programs.
  • The ability to work as a team member. 

Note: This job description is not all-inclusive. You will perform other duties as assigned, to ensure the organization's ongoing needs are met. 

Educational Requirements:

  • Licensed by the State of New York as a Practical Nurse (LPN) 
  • A minimum of 2 years related experience in geriatrics. 
  • Must possess a valid New York State Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

Physical Activities: 

  • Reading, writing, and communicating fluently in English
