POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Direct Supervisor:

School Readiness Specialist II

Assistant Director of Head Start

The School Readiness Specialist II provides comprehensive support to School Readiness

Coaches, Head Start team members, and direct service program management. This role helps to

establish ongoing support systems for the education and curriculum content areas while always

using a lens of continuous improvement.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Be committed to a Culture of Safety within all programs and locations where children may
be present.
  • Model professional behavior, open communication, and effective conflict-resolution skills.
  • Implement a program plan for ongoing program monitoring, self-assessment, and continuous
improvement.
  • Support the improvement of policies and protocols that impact education and curriculum
content areas.
  • Provide functional support to Head Start Coaches including mentorship, direction, and
support.
  • Collaborate with all Head Start team members, ensuring high-quality alignment for education
and curriculum throughout the program.
  • Supports coaches, content team, parents, contractors, and districts in student’s kindergarten
transition from Head Start.
  • Uphold the training needs of direct service staff and support the ongoing process of
identifying and evaluating training needs.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the implementation of screenings, assessments, and
school readiness evaluations.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and coaching to team members in the area of child development,
curriculum, and assessment.
  • Represents the agency at a local, state, and national level as needed.
  • Ensures all funding source requirements and licensing requirements are met through ongoing
monitoring.
  • In collaboration with Head Start leadership, establish program calendars.
  • Support the needs of the Policy Council through the planning and development of content
needed for reporting to the Policy Council.
  • Ensures all reports, records, and data are maintained accurately and submitted promptly.
  • Provide oversight of student data and analyze the information for program improvement.
  • Ensure all educational practices are culturally appropriate for the communities served.
  • Participate in all Office of Head Start initiatives including research or pilot projects.
  • Administer Office of Head Start-directed monitoring services.
  • Assist and contribute to annual grant writing and program assessment.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to all Office of Head Start Performance Standards.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience

1. BA degree in Human Development, Social Work, Early Childhood Education, or a related
field.

2. At least three years’ experience in an early learning setting.
3. Experience working with diverse populations.

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Bilingual/bi-literate in English & Spanish
