Position Summary: Are you a nursing leader with exceptional management and organizational skills to lead our staff of nursing professionals and oversee patient care? In this role, you will direct the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
- Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
- Direct and evaluate departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
- Plan and monitor staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
- Prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets, ensuring compliance with allocated funding.
- Coordinate and direct internal/external audits.
- Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth.
- Integrate evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

- Associate's degree in Nursing required.
- Bachelor's degree highly preferred.
- Master's degree (MHA, MSN, MBA, or related field) highly preferred.
- 3 years in Emergency Department Services.
- 3 years in a leadership role highly preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Handle with Care certification and American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) preferred within one year of employment/eligibility.
- EMTALA & EHAC training in Healthstream upon hire and annually thereafter.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Current Alabama Registered Nurse license or a current Compact State Registered Nurse license.
