Brain Injury Services Unit Coordinator- Full Time – Norfolk, VA - Enjoy a rewarding and challenging position with a nonprofit organization that has been helping educate, train, and provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities since 1955. We are currently seeking applicants for a full-time Brain Injury Services Unit Coordinator in Norfolk.

The BIS Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of day-to-day operations of the Clubhouse program while working with members and other Unit Coordinators to promote strong Clubhouse relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist members in defining their needs goals and objectives to coordinate individual service plans.
  • Drives and maintain multi-passenger van.
  • Coordinate readiness activities.
  • Work side by side with members to engage, motivate, coordinate, and complete all unit tasks.
  • Provide career counseling and pre-vocation job readiness activities in the unit and provide education and training.
  • Help with the club’s evening, weekend, and holiday programs as applicable.
  • Provide advocacy and support.
  • Maintain confidential files and complete documentation.
  • Assist members in establishing employment or education goals.
  • Assist the program manager and other units as needed.
  • Maintain confidential member files and ensure that related goal documentation is completed promptly and meets established program standards.
  • Keep required records and submit required reports.
  • Work individually and cooperatively to maintain and improve high-quality program services.
  • Work in accordance with IBICA clubhouse standards and CARF standards.
Keep informed of professional developments and trends pertinent to clubhouse model standards.

Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree in human services, psychology, rehabilitation, social work, or related degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years experience providing community-based services to persons with disabilities preferably those with brain injuries. CBIS certification within the first year. Must be able to drive a vehicle. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Pre-employment drug testing, clearance through a criminal background investigation, and an acceptable driving record are required.
