Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated SAT Tutor with specialized experience in supporting students with disabilities, particularly those diagnosed with mixed anxiety, social anxiety, executive functioning disorder, ADHD, and conductive hearing loss. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of these challenges and be able to adapt their teaching style to meet the individual needs of the student, fostering a supportive and effective learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop Tailored Lesson Plans: Create personalized SAT preparation plans that align with the student’s unique learning goals and abilities, taking into account their specific challenges.

• Provide Focused Instruction: Offer instruction in SAT subjects, with a particular emphasis on strategies that accommodate executive functioning difficulties and ADHD.

• Utilize Adaptive Teaching Methods: Implement teaching strategies that address the student’s anxiety and hearing loss, including the use of assistive technologies and other accommodations.

• Foster a Positive Learning Environment: Use effective classroom management and motivational techniques to create a supportive atmosphere that reduces anxiety and encourages active participation.

• Collaborate for Success: Work closely with the student, parents, and any involved educators or therapists to monitor progress, adjust strategies as needed, and ensure the student’s success.

• Incorporate Technology: Use technology and other resources to enhance understanding, engagement, and accessibility during tutoring sessions.

Qualifications

• Experience with Special Needs Students: Proven experience working with students who have ADHD, anxiety disorders, and hearing impairments, with an understanding of how these conditions affect learning.

• Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field is preferred.

• Knowledge of SAT Curriculum: Proficiency in SAT content, with the ability to tailor instruction to meet the needs of students with learning challenges.

• Strong Communication Skills: Ability to convey complex concepts in a clear, concise manner, with sensitivity to the student’s specific communication needs.

• Patience and Empathy: A patient and empathetic approach to teaching, with a commitment to building the student’s confidence and reducing test-related anxiety.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $50.00 per hour
