El Dorado Hills Community Services District is Hiring a Communications Specialist Near Placerville, CA

The CSD is recognized as the premier park, recreation, and local community services organization with a passion for providing excellent services and facilities and protecting the quality of life and environment of the community. 

The CSD is seeking a Communications Specialist who is passionate about community engagement with strong writing, social media management, and public relations skills to help shape the image of the CSD and build trust and transparency with the public.

About the Position:

The Communications Specialist is responsible for providing professional support to the District's public information communications programs. The Communications Specialist will play a key role in our upcoming development projects and event promotions. As the Communications Specialist, you'll be responsible for crafting compelling content to market District events across various platforms. You'll also be responsible for developing our seasonal recreation activity guide. 

An example of duties includes:

  • Implements the District's communications programs; works with departments to identify their public information, marketing and communication needs, ensuring consistency in the content, nature and tone of communications.
  • Attends department meetings to gather information, assist in setting goals, provide communication specific guidance, and recommendations for effective departmental communication.
  • Works with management and supervisors on the best method of communicating the District's message to its constituents.
  • Works with the General Manager on the development and implementation of the District's messaging strategies, including written materials and social media protocols to ensure consistency in how the District's messages are crafted and distributed to ensure a consistent voice across all communications.
  • Assists in preparing a variety of public information statements, messages and materials for distribution to local newspapers, journals and television stations with respect to District operations, activities, services and events.
  • Creates graphics, brochures, guides, and flyers; takes photographs for publications; creates or oversees video production; prepares layouts for written and photographic content; oversees the design, production, printing, and distribution of all print and electronic materials.
  • Oversees and manages social media including but not limited to; YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, Nextdoor.
  • May solicit bids for services for the District's public information and communication programs; sources vendors; prepares bid specifications; works with management and other interested parties to evaluate bids.
  • Assists in developing a consistent and cohesive brand that communicates the District's mission, vision and values, and brand protection.
  • Establish and enhance trust through positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies, District management, staff, and the public.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to a graduation from a four college or university with major course work in communications, public relations, journalism, or a closely related field; 

AND

Three (3) years of experience providing professional level support to a marketing or communications program.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C driver's license.
