EL Office is Hiring an Instructional Facilitator, English Learners (High School) Near Virginia, VA

Job Overview: 

The EL Instructional Facilitator’s objective is to support secondary schools and teachers to meet the learning needs of English Learners (ELs) by developing and building on teachers’ understanding and implementation of instructional strategies, curricula, assessments, and measures that support English language acquisition. 

In addition, the EL Instructional Facilitator provides professional development for teachers and administrators that is designed to support language development and content knowledge. 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Support secondary teachers to refine their knowledge and skills of strategies that support English language development. Instructional support could include, but is not limited to:
  • coaching, guiding, and modeling of best instructional practices through in-class demonstration
  • co-planning and supporting the development of lesson plans with teachers based on student needs
  • providing whole-staff or Collaborative Learning Team (CLT) presentations
  • Collaborate with the EL Secondary team when determining division and school level needs
  • Work collaboratively with content offices and school administrators to effectively communicate instructional practices that will increase EL student achievement and growth at the secondary level 
  • Analyze and interpret data to assist schools in identifying needs and determining next steps that will improve student achievement and program effectiveness 
  • Identify and provide school-level high quality, evidence-based professional development
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with school administrators and teachers

Qualifications 

  • Holds a Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement in English as a Second Language
  • Has a minimum of five years of successful experience in the teaching ELs at the secondary level
  • Has experience in teacher mentoring or coaching in inclusive and collaborative teaching models
  • Has a strong commitment to quality, standards-based education for a culturally diverse community
  • Has demonstrated the professional and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with school personnel and members of the community

FLSA Status: Exempt

Months/Days/Hours: 11 months/ 217 days/ 7 hours per day

Salary Level: Licensed
