Elanders Americas is Hiring a Senior Systems Administrator Near Davenport, IA

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for providing experienced server and network support of our internal systems in Davenport, Iowa, as well as our remote locations. The successful candidate must be experienced in Windows Server administration, SQL Server administration, and supporting web hosting, system applications, and more. The successful candidate will be a leader who is proactive and can effectively communicate, document projects and systems as well as prioritize multiple issues and projects at once in a fast-paced environment. They should also be able to develop action plans and deliver results on time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Full-time work.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, applications, and network systems.
  • Maintain, monitor, and analyze servers, applications, and network systems and make recommendations regarding computer system security, performance, and utilization needs.
  • Support SQL Server databases, replication, and server administration.
  • Configure, maintain, and audit firewalls, switches, and other network devices.
  • Work as a key member of the cybersecurity team to identify, analyze, and resolve security risks.
  • Oversee new software releases, system upgrades, and patch management.
  • Manage the disaster recovery and backup systems to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Design and develop policies, procedures, and other documentation, to drive security, compliance, and consistency within the company.
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Support and maintain end user requirements, including troubleshooting, account maintenance and training.
  • Conduct software and hardware evaluations, provide technical analysis, and implement systems to meet the company’s IT goals.
  • Automate administrative tasks and streamline processes to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Obtain and/or maintain technical certifications necessary for continued growth and success of Midland and the IT Team.
  • Resolve support tickets and utilize the standard change management process.
  • May be a point of contact with some suppliers and vendors.
  • Occasional travel and overnight stays may be required.
  • Occasional weekend and after hours support as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Must have experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows servers, SQL servers, and network components.
  • Must have experience troubleshooting complex server, network, and database issues.
  • Must be a leader and demonstrate an ability to think and act proactively.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must have excellent analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Must be able to learn new concepts and applications quickly.

COMPUTER SKILLS

While performing the essential duties of this position, the employee will be required to work with:

  • Administration of Microsoft Windows operating systems (server and workstation)
  • Administration of Microsoft SQL Server
  • Administration of Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online
  • Administration of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager
  • Administration of VMware ESXi or similar virtual environment.
  • Administration of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains is a plus.
  • Administration of EMC Avamar or Veeam is a plus.
  • Administration of Trend Micro Endpoint Management is a plus.
  • Support and use of Microsoft Office
  • Multiple other applications as well as internally developed applications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; bachelor’s degree in computer science or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 4 years of experience with Microsoft Server Administration including DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, Security functions, printer management, user share management and Active Directory account and group management.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server Administration, monitoring, troubleshooting or DBA type work.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION 

The following licenses/certifications are preferred:

  • Microsoft Certifications
  • Cisco or Networking Certifications
  • VMware Certifications
  • Security related certifications
