Job Summary: The Senior Payroll Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of payroll for union employees. This position requires a strong attention to detail, with a focus on maintaining compliance with payroll regulations and union agreements. It involves regular collaboration with other departments and the Payroll Manager to address payroll-related challenges and implement improvements. This role is essential to supporting the overall payroll function and contributing to the organization's operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Review and correct payroll discrepancies to ensure accurate processing.

Verify and process weekly union payroll, adhering to all regulations and agreements.

Process manual checks as requested, ensuring timely and accurate distribution.

Assist with employee action forms, including direct deposit setup, W-4 changes, garnishments, and union payments.

Manage weekly and monthly union payments, ensuring compliance with deadlines.

Certify payroll when required and respond to inquiries such as mortgage verifications.

Support the Payroll Manager with special projects and initiatives.

Qualifications:

Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field.

Proven experience in payroll processing, particularly with union payroll.

Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience with a solid understanding of payroll laws.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to respond effectively to inquiries.

Experience with payroll software and systems; ADP experience is a plus.
