Element Materials Technology is Hiring a Metallurgical Technician Near Saint Paul, MN

Overview:
Element has an opportunity for a Metallurgical Technician. In this role, you will work with engineers, technicians, and welding inspectors to perform daily tasks related to weld testing and machining, including sample preparation, testing, and reporting. An interest in becoming a CWI is preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, polish, and etch metallographic mounts
  • Operate a metallograph, stereo microscope, and digital 3d microscope
  • Interpret data, review, and report testing results
  • Assist sales team with technical questions
  • Possess strong inter-personal skills for verbal and written communication with clients
  • Perform equipment verifications and preventative maintenance
  • Participate in personal training, cross training of employees, and continued learning of testing techniques
  • Perform all duties as required within an ISO 17025 quality system
  • Abide by all safety and housekeeping rules and regulations
Skills / Qualifications:
  • Two year technical degree in an engineering field
  • Bachelor's (B.S.) degree in Materials Science or a related field is preferred
  • 1-2 years related work experience preferred
