What You'll Do:

The Senior Forecasting and Inventory Planner manages and optimizes the forecasting and inventory planning processes to ensure that the Company maintains optimal inventory levels, minimizes costs, and meets customer demand. This role involves analyzing data, forecasting future inventory needs, and supporting strategies to improve inventory management. The Senior Forecasting and Inventory Planner will work closely with various departments, including Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance, to ensure a cohesive inventory planning and management approach.

The Senior Forecasting and Inventory Planner performs a full range of duties and must be able to work semi-independently and exercise initiative and good judgment.

Challenge Yourself – The Specifics:

  • Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts using historical sales data, market trends, and other relevant information
  • Utilize statistical methods and forecasting software to predict future inventory needs
  • Monitor forecast accuracy and adjust models as necessary to improve reliability
  • Establish and maintain optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand while minimizing holding costs
  • Implement and oversee inventory replenishment strategies, including safety stock levels and reorder points
  • Conduct regular inventory reviews and audits to ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Develop and execute strategies to reduce excess and obsolete inventory
  • Analyze inventory and sales data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement
  • Generate regular reports on inventory status, forecast accuracy, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management
  • Identify opportunities to enhance forecasting and inventory management processes
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional projects to implement process improvements and best practices
  • Stay informed about industry trends and new technologies that could strengthen forecasting and inventory management capabilities
  • Communicate effectively with senior management at all levels to ensure understanding and buy-in of inventory plans and policies
  • Identify data requirements needed to support in-depth analysis
  • Analyze performance and trends, clearly articulate business drivers behind the forecast, identify opportunities and risks, and proactively communicate to cross-functional teams
  • Define and administer the setup of new tools and software
  • Continually challenge existing methods and processes to find opportunities for improvement
  • Perform other duties as assigned

You Have a Unique Combination of Skills, Talents, and Mindset, Including Many of the Following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Statistics, or equivalent training and work experience
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in forecasting, demand planning, and inventory management or related full-time work experience is required
  • High-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required
  • Proficiency in SQL or one or more programming languages such as R, VBA, SAS, or Python is preferred
  • APICS CPIM Certification is preferred
  • Advanced skills in querying, analyzing, and visualizing large data sets
  • Experienced in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strength in critical thinking, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication
  • Comfort in articulating complex information and analyses to a variety of audiences
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to quickly learn relevant database applications and software
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Assist in developing and implementing goals, objectives, practices, policies, procedures, and work standards
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build effective working relationships across departments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions
  • Understand and ensure compliance with company and department policies and procedures
  • Identify problems, research, and analyze relevant information, and develop and present recommendations and justification for solution
  • Prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, procedures, and other written materials
  • Establish and maintain a variety of manual and computerized reports, logs, records, and files of work performed
  • Acquire an understanding of LED lighting products and communicate effectively with industry professionals
  • Make accurate mathematical calculations
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner; organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines
  • Use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy, procedural, and legal guidelines
  • Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
