About the job

Elephants offers great local foods from scratch every day, and much of that food is prepared (cooked, baked, and packaged) at our SE Portland Central Kitchen. To accomplish this goal, we rely on an exceptional group of food professionals to produce high-quality food products 24/7. We are a speedy team that is constantly evolving to meet the needs of our stores and customers.

We need an experienced leader for our talented, close-knit Dessert department. We are high-energy and move with purpose in this bustling production bakery. You should be a quick thinker and a fast mover! You should also be a problem solver who asks a lot of good questions. And a leader who can bring out the best in their team members. Our production bakery is a great place to share your skills and expertise with a team of friendly folks who enjoy what they do.

Your primary responsibility is to keep the bakery running smoothly and support the bakery and dessert team in creating consistent quality desserts. Of course, the Dessert Lead also helps keep all equipment in the bakery clean and orderly, restock/organize workspaces, and maintain all bakery materials. They maintain in-depth knowledge of dessert production and procedures and help cross-train when needed. They also maintain all company safety, dress, and personnel policies. And foster a positive environment of teamwork and mutual respect. A food handler's card is required for this position.
