Elevate Healthcare Soluitons is Hiring a Surgical Services Manager (PACU) Onsite Near Clackamas, OR

Job Summary:

The manager of Surgical Services is responsible for managing the daily operations of designated units within the Surgical Services division. This could include an inpatient unit at KSMC/KWMC or one of the ASCs.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • CLINICAL PRACTICE: As the manager, you will act as an expert resource and role model for the staff, playing a crucial role in ensuring the highest standard of patient care. You will create, modify, and evaluate policies and procedures based on clinical practice guidelines, ensuring that the care delivery in the unit meets these guidelines through competency-based assessment of all staff at the time of hire and ongoing. Your use of quality outcomes will be instrumental in ensuring safe procedural care of patients in the perioperative/interventional arena. You will also support the ongoing education and professional growth of yourself and your staff, staying current with practice changes and effectively communicating them to the staff.
  • PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT: Interviews, recruits, and hires RN staff. Conducts performance appraisals. Counsels employees and acts on disciplinary problems. Ensures staff has knowledge and skills to provide appropriate, safe care to patients through education, coaching, or experience. Develops and maintains staffing patterns for the unit. Coordinates and chairs staff meetings and UBT.
  • LEADERSHIP: As the manager, you will play a key role in facilitating interdepartmental relationships to support the mission, vision, and goals of the department and organization. Your demonstrated critical thinking and collaborative approach, even in the face of conflict and difficult conversations, will be essential in fostering a culture of creative thinking, problem-solving, and acting as a change agent to challenge the status quo. Your self-reflective nature and ability to meet deadlines and escalate issues to appropriate parties will contribute to a positive work environment. You will also create and maintain collaborative relationships with Permanente providers and leaders in the organization, and play a part in developing the next generation of leaders.
  • QUALITY ASSURANCE/ IMPROVEMENT: Participates in data gathering and analysis. Articulates organization and department performance improvement programs and goals. Maintains compliance with all regulatory bodies and professional standards. Monitors quality and safety of units. Supports quality plan and articulates to staff. Develops department plans with a quality focus that responds to changing healthcare delivery. Investigates department quality concerns, document results, and report concerns or findings to appropriate organizational entities.
  • FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT: As the manager, you will work closely with the business manager or director to develop a budget that takes into account labor and cost of goods using historical and projected estimates. Your role in managing both labor and inventory and supplies in a cost-effective manner and within budget will be crucial in maintaining the financial health of the department. Your ability to define budget variances and course correct to them, and to define the capital equipment needs of the department including surgeon and anesthesia requests, will contribute to the overall financial success of the organization. You will also prioritize needs for the department when capital is limited, and educate staff on department budgetary goals and promote cost-effectiveness in the department.
  • LABOR MANAGEMENT: Cooperative, efficient work environment due to consistent interpretation and application of contractual guidelines.
  • ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years of RN clinical experience, with at least two (2) years in Perioperative Services.
  • Minimum two (2) years of a leadership role in health care.

Education

  • BSN or health-related bachelor's degree or currently enrolled in a BSN or health-related bachelor's degree program with a completed date defined.

License, Certification, Registration

  • Registered Nurse License (Oregon)
  • Basic Life Support within one month of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) years of Critical Care experience (MPU or SPA/PACU only).
  • Minimum four (4) years of previous management experience in a similar role or an acute care setting.
  • Minimum five (5) years of demonstrated knowledge in clinical experience.
  • Certification in specialization (CNOR, CPAN etc).
  • Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, Labor Law, all related and affiliate contracts, Workmens Comp., KSMC Policies and Procedures, Human Resource Policies and Procedures, O.S.H.A., H.C.F.A., Medicate/Medicaid, Health Department, Employee Benefits, National Labor Relations Board, Standards of Practice of Professional Organizations.
  • Financial/economic principles.
  • Communication skills.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Notes: Rotating weekend call
