Our client, a Washington, DC-based law firm specializing exclusively in employee benefits, is seeking an experienced Compliance Associate to join its employee benefits practice. With expertise in representing Taft-Hartley multiemployer benefit plans, we take pride in the fact that much of our work directly benefits union-represented workers across a wide range of industries throughout the United States.

Our attorneys regularly engage with the Department of Labor (DOL) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on plan audits and correction matters, while also maintaining close working relationships with the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC). We are one of the few firms where employee benefits representation is not just a department but the firm’s entire mission.

This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, addressing employee benefit issues alongside a team of seasoned attorneys. Responsibilities:

• Interact regularly with the DOL and IRS on plan audit and correction issues.
• Maintain close working relationships with the PBGC.
• Collaborate with experienced employee benefit attorneys in a collegial environment.
• Engage in significant client contact and manage client work.
• Address a wide variety of ERISA issues in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

• DC bar membership or eligibility to waive into the DC bar.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience, including demonstrated expertise with employee benefit plan issues arising under ERISA.
• Extensive experience in employee benefits compliance.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented approach.
• Strong analytical, verbal, and writing skills required.
