A Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the clinical and administrative functions of healthcare facilities. A Medical Assistant at Elixia will have a strong emphasis on phlebotomy skills and excellent communication abilities.

Responsibilities:

• Draws blood and collects other specimens from patients for laboratory testing
• Performs routine laboratory/radiology tests on patients as provided by established protocol
• Ensures proper labeling and handling of specimens
• Assists healthcare providers with patient care, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and administering medications as directed
• Communicates effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records, including documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems
• Maintains inventory of medical supplies and materials.
• Assists with scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and other administrative tasks as needed
• Greets, receives, and prepares patients for appointments/procedures; conducts interviews with patients, measures vital signs, and records information.
• Provides patient education and support, ensuring patients understand procedures and treatments
• Adheres to all safety, infection control, and privacy policies and protocols
• Supports clinical research activities as needed, including data collection and documentation
• Participates in continuing education activities and attends relevant training sessions to maintain and enhance skills
• Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning of the healthcare facility and assigned by management.
