Job Title: Director of Development

You will manage distributed project development for a selected market region to complete the development of distributed renewable energy projects.

Responsibilities:

• Manage project development activities, including site selection, contracting, permitting, land acquisition, incentive programs, interconnection processes, regulatory issues, problem resolution, and due diligence for transactions.
• Supervise site and project acquisition in designated markets, collaborating with the Site Origination team to establish purchase and lease terms, negotiate agreements with landowners and developers, and assess site feasibility.
• Execute all aspects of project development, ensuring adherence to company-defined processes across all projects.
• Conduct weekly development reviews and advise management on project status and issue resolution.
• Ensure accurate weekly project-level reporting in development systems.
• Generate ad-hoc reports as requested, ensuring data validity and resource allocation.
• Assign support for reviewing projects being acquired or sold, including site control documents, permits, agreements, and program qualifications.

Qualifications:

• Must be based in Chicago, IL.
• Minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in energy projects.
• Minimum of 5 years' direct experience with distributed generation assets and development.
• Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience with contract provisions, market dynamics, regulatory issues, financial analysis, and transactions.
• Experience in leading project development teams, preferably in renewable energy.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
• Collaborative approach with other teams, including business development and asset management.
• Proficiency in project analysis, development contracts, and negotiations.
• Capable of defining tasks, setting targets, budgets, and meeting deadlines effectively.
