POSITION: 2024-2025 Certified Teacher – CTE Family & Consumer Sciences 1.0 FTE
LOCATION: Ellensburg High School
REPORTS TO: CTE Director & Building Principal
PURPOSEWe are seeking a highly qualified Family and Consumer Sciences (FACSE) Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will design and deliver curriculum to meet established competencies, collaborate with the departmental team, and provide leadership and guidance to students and staff.
Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver curriculum to meet established competencies regarding OSPI approved Family and Consumer Sciences Curriculum Frameworks
  • Collaborate with the departmental team to update curriculum, Career Pathways, State Approved Equivalencies, and Industry Recognized Certificates (IRC's)
  • Actively guide students through the FACSE Pathways, introducing them to potential internship, mentorship, or apprenticeship opportunities
  • Provide leadership and direction for the FACSE Advisory Committee and the development of the FACSE four-year plan
  • Provide leadership, guidance, supervision, and advisor teamwork in the FCCLA Program
  • Center instruction on high expectations for student achievement
  • Demonstrate effective teaching practices
  • Recognize individual student learning needs and develop strategies to address those needs
  • Provide clear and intentional focus on subject matter content and curriculum
  • Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment for all students
  • Use multiple student data elements to modify instruction and improve student learning
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community
  • Exhibit collaborative and collegial practices focused on improving instructional practice and student learning
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining Dual Credit articulation agreement(s)
Required Technology Experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Familiarity with Google Classroom as a classroom resource tool
  • Ability to save/share/manipulate information via network environment
Essential Functions
  • Organize, teach and develop materials for program that meets the course goals and objectives and state family and consumer science program standards
  • Articulate programs with local community colleges
  • Integrate work-based learning experiences into classroom instruction
  • Provide an effective instructional environment that engages students
  • Maintain appropriate and accurate records and assist in completing state reports
  • Advise student leadership organization including travel, competition, and fundraising
  • Maintain financial records pertaining to the program and student leadership organization
  • Complete program planning and program evaluation in cooperation with state guidelines
  • Attend and participate in staffing, department, district, and employer meetings as required
  • Participate and work cooperatively on school projects
  • Develop, maintain, and update course frameworks as needed
  • Teach approved curriculum
  • Participate in IEP planning sessions as appropriate
  • Provide for the supervision of students in the classroom and on the school premises as required
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Attend and participate in advisory meetings
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies
Educational/Vocational Preparation Occupational Certificates/Licenses
  • Currently have or will have received by the start date a valid Washington State CTE Family & Consumer Science Education Teaching Certificate for grades 9-12, required (V Code must be V200002 FACSE University Route).
Or
  • Must have completed or be working toward an approved CTE Plan 2 Business & Industry Route teacher preparation program with verification of 6,000 hours of occupational experience.
  • Prefer Worksite Learning Coordinator and Career Choices endorsements (V Codes: V600097 and V600092)
  • Currently have or will have earned by the start date a valid First Aid/CPR with AED certification, required.
  • Must qualify to work in the proximity of children under the conditions of a WSP/FBI background check
