Elmet Technologies is a leading producer of the high-performance metals including tungsten, molybdenum, tantalum, niobium and other specialty metals.
We are currently sourcing candidates for a Machine Operator, Seco Slitterat our Euclid, OH facility. This person will roll material to a breakdown gauge and/or finish gauge in accordance to set procedures established by the company and to meet customer specifications.
Job responsibilities also include, but not limited to:

• Set up slitter to size required, using basic conversion math skills
• Run material through slitter. Coil or stack material. Deliver to appropriate operation bases on order specifications
• Set machine to level orders or in-process material as required to meet customer specifications
• Shear orders or in-process material as required to meet customer specifications
• Use lift equipment to move and position material as necessary
• Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain high quality standards
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment including insuring that knives are sharp, and spacers and fingers are in good working order
• Operator to contact the supervisor or group leader well in advance when slitter pads or knives need to be sent out or replaced
• Maintains production records and performs equipment set-up, which involves accurate calculation for close tolerance output
• Maintain equipment in safe and efficient operation by working closely with maintenance department. Identify preventative maintenance routines
• Maintain work area in a clean, safe and orderly condition. Follow 6S procedures
• Perform all other duties as assigned by group leaders or supervisors

Qualifications:

• Requires a high school or equivalent degree. 1-2 years of experience a plus in a sheet metal environment
• Knowledge of commonly used measuring tools such as micrometers and good math skills including fractions and decimals required
• Operator must plan how to cut orders to achieve best material efficiency
• Visually inspect all work and evaluate for quality within guidelines set by the plant. If material is unacceptable when measured by these standards, advise supervisor and/or quality control department.
• Check gauge and surface to ensure quality of material before beginning to process
• Perform all tasks in an efficient, conscientious manner that contributes to the safety and quality goals of the company.
• Business needs and trade compliance requirements mandate that this position be held by a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident

Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentPosition requires a moderate level of physical exertion. Position is located in a manufacturing environment, exposing the incumbent to machines with movable parts, heat, chemicals, and consequently requires that personal protective equipment be worn.
