MEP Superintendent (Subcontractor expereince required)

Position Summary: The MEP Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aspects of various commercial construction projects. This role involves coordinating with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and clients to ensure all MEP systems are installed correctly, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial construction, strong leadership skills, and a comprehensive understanding of MEP systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight: Supervise and manage all MEP activities on-site to ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of MEP engineers, foremen, and tradespeople, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality workmanship.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with general contractors, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve any MEP-related issues and ensure seamless integration with other construction activities.
  • Scheduling: Develop and maintain project schedules for MEP installations, ensuring timely completion of all tasks and adherence to project timelines.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of MEP installations to ensure quality standards are met and identify any areas needing improvement or correction.
  • Budget Management: Monitor project budgets, control costs, and minimize waste while ensuring high standards of work.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate records of MEP activities, including daily reports, inspections, and material deliveries.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols on-site, conduct safety meetings, and ensure all team members adhere to safety standards.
  • Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during construction, implementing effective solutions to keep projects on track.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in MEP supervision for commercial construction projects.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of MEP systems, construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as PMP, LEED AP, or trade-specific certifications are advantageous.
  • Attributes: Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
