Senior Designer

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Seeking a highly creative Senior Designer with at least 5-7 years of experience in packaging or structural design. This position will play a pivotal role in shaping our brand and client engagement through innovative and creative packaging solutions. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop packaging designs that not only captivate audiences but also align with our brand strategy and values. We are looking for a candidate who is motivated, a natural leader with meticulous organizational skills and stellar work ethic, demonstrating unwavering dedication to excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create packaging designs and structures that meet brand specifications and needs.
• Have a strong understanding of structures and all variables that affect the structural integrity and overall design of a project.
• Identify suitable packaging materials and conducting feasibility studies.
• Oversee the entire design process from conception to final production.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet project deadlines without compromising quality.
• Able to lead a team of designers in the creation and execution of packaging concepts from ideation to final production, while providing guidance, inspiration, feedback and support to the team.
• Able to solve complex design problems and strategically approach solutions.
• Responsible for maintaining quality standards and consistency for the company and brand's packaging and brand identity.
• Always ahead of current market trends in packaging, materials/technologies that can be used in packaging.
• Generate ORFs and blank dielines for new packaging inquiry
• Generate and update design files with detailed dimensions and material information
• Send out design files for development and communicate with Accounts and Production team
• Check pre-production/ final production samples and address any product issues or challenges in a timely manner
• Collaborates closely with clients, stakeholders, and other departments to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
• Maintains a keen sense of urgency, serving as a bridge between the design team, other departments, and senior management throughout the process. Proactively stays informed about critical deadlines and requirements, facilitating effective communication and ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
• Always a productive participant looking for ways to improve or propose solutions to existing processes or structure.
• Excellent 2D, 3D visualization skills, including hand-sketching, tablet-sketching, illustrator renderings, presentation storytelling and layout design.
• Work on a wide range of projects from packaging to branding.
• Strong understanding of typography, layout, and colour theory
• Strong eye for design, page composition and layout
• Experience working in both digital and print design
• Knowledge of press and printing processes
• Proofread and revise designs for errors.
• Reports to senior management within the organization

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in packaging design, industrial design, graphic design, art, or a similar field with at least 5-7 years of packaging experience
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong illustration skills and rendering skills.
• Natural talent for design and a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to create initial specs and generate design files
• Experience with market research and familiarity with various packaging material
• Excellent written, verbal communication skills, and work ethic
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Keynote, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) Rhino, Keyshot or other similar design software.
