SummaryDirects the technology solutions that support and enable the core property and casualty insurance capabilities of policy administration, billing, and claims. Leads multiple agile product delivery teams through digital transformation from legacy applications to Guidewire Cloud InsuranceSuite. Works closely with leaders to understand the service requirements of customers and other key stakeholders and delivers IT strategies and solutions to meet or exceed expectations. Directs the operational activities of the assigned technology products. Directs the strategy and alignment of software with the business objectives of EMC. Drives the roadmap to streamline, standardize, and strengthen performance, reliability, robustness, and scalability across the company.
Essential Functions
  • Lead multiple agile product delivery teams of software engineers and managers that develop and support the application systems than enable core insurance services
  • Works closely with organizational leaders to understand the service requirements of customers and key stakeholders and delivers technology strategies and solutions to enable busines outcomes
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality, value, delivery, timeliness, and compliance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of technology and trends from multiple perspectives including software engineering, architecture, infrastructure, quality assurance, and business delivery model to develop effective technology strategies
  • Develop team expertise and complete succession planning, including identifying talent and implementing development plans for critical leadership and individual contributor positions
  • Manages budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures, accurately forecasting resource needs/costs, and properly accounting for expenses to meet requirements and achieve fiscal responsibility
  • Works closely with other technology leaders to foster an organizational environment of collaboration, innovation, diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Designs, implements, and communicates effective organizational structure for assigned area or responsibility
  • Plans and presents technology applications strategy to business and executive leadership
  • Represents IT when working with company agents, insureds, vendors, and regulatory agencies on technology-related topics
  • Drives monthly operational metrics and key performance indicators for assigned organization to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and effective data driven decision
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science or related field, such as information systems or equivalent relevant experience
  • Ten years of experience in progressively responsible roles in IT, including at least four years of experience leading software engineering teams, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with core system platform management
  • Property and casualty insurance experience
  • Prior experience with cloud technologies like AWS preferred

  • Exceptional knowledge of programming languages for applicable systems
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities to analyze complex situations
  • Advanced attention to detail, organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent ability to advise, partner, influence and effectively consult with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, executives, and project owners
  • Ability to work in coordination with others to accomplish departmental and company objectives through proper delegation
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once, meet deadlines, and monitor the financial budgeting and its impact on the overall projects
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify problems and implement effective solutions
  • Strong knowledge of insurance principles
