Job Title: Custodian (ARLIS) Hours: M-F 7:30am - 4pm

Job Summary: EMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for a Custodian at the Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security (ARLIS) in College Park, MD, for a Temporary Assignment lasting approximately 2 months and potentially converting to permanent. The hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30am - 4pm. Must hold a Secret or Top Secret clearance to be considered

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Duty Schedule: M-F 7:30am-4:00pm 
• Assists the Project Manager in ordering departmental supplies.
• Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition.
• Completes all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains daily upkeep of assigned areas and equipment.
• Performs routine maintenance activities.
• Performs heavy cleaning duties.
• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuums floors.
• Gathers and empties trash.
• Scrubs, sanitizes, and supplies restroom facilities.
• Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment.
• Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers.
• Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Cleans and polishes fixtures and furniture.
• Shampoos or steam-cleans carpets and rugs.
• Restocks toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, etc.

Qualifications: 

• Must hold an active Secret or Top Secret clearance.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) or more years’ experience in housekeeping on Commercial-Industrial or Government building equipment.
• Experience and knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents in English.

Physical Demands 

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly walk for extended periods; required to sit; use hands to finger, handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms; talks or hear and test or smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
