Corporate Quality Control Manager
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
AltairStrickland is a Mechanical Contractor that specializes in the repair, alteration, and installation/removal of static Equipment in the Downstream and petrochemical sector. This includes but is not limited to Pressure Vessels, Storage Tanks, Furnaces, Boilers, Piping Systems, Majors Structures, etc. The Corporate Quality Control Manager's main function is to oversee our quality control/assurance programs across all Company efforts. Major functions around welding activities related to procedure development, technology/method selection, client specification adherence and reviews, estimating/procurement assistance are expected.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Upkeep and apply Corporate Quality Control Policies
* Upkeep and maintenance of all corporate Welding & Bolting KPIs.
* Lead all interactions with our AI and State Jurisdictions regarding National Board Registered efforts.
* Oversee all welding activities, lead WPS/PQR development/maintenance, and lead technology/equipment improvement.
* Lead all Filed QCM vetting, assist with hiring of QCM/Techs for project support, and support all ongoing Projects as needed.
* Assist and or develop Repair/Alteration Packages for Static Equipment.
* Assist and or develop critical ITPs.
* Role will be an onsite function at the LaPorte TX Office.
* Performs other duties as requested by the VP of Engineering.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The position reports directly to the VP of Engineering with reporting paths to Operations, Safety, and Upper Management.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's Degree in either Mechanical or Metallurgy from an ABET Accredited Program is beneficial but not required.
* A CWI Certification is required. Additional API certifications are beneficial but not required.
* A minimum of 10 yrs experience in the Downstream/Petrochemical industry is required.
* A professional engineer (P.E.) or Engineering in Training (E.I.T.) credentials are preferred, but not required.
* Knowledge and previous application of domestic Industry Codes pertaining to static equipment such as API/ASME/NBIC/AISC/AWS/D1.1 are essential.
* Experience with WeldOffice WPQ is essential.
* Strong Background of SMAW/GTAW/GMAW/FCAW process are essential.
* Strong capacities in Adobe/BlueBeam/MS Office are essential.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Regular travel by airplane and automobile in conducting business is required, as well as overnight stays to visit project and customer locations. Ability to communicate orally with project management, corporate executives, customers and other co-workers is important. Regular use of a variety of measuring tools, the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Activities include but are not limited to extended periods of sitting, standing, extensive work at a computer work station, completing job walks at customers sites, climbing structures utilizing a ladder, donning necessary PPE, etc. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is important for conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect unit plans, blueprints and drawings.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The job may be performed both indoors in an office setting and outdoors in a variety of settings including possible hazardous conditions on and around scaffolding or a construction/turnaround site inside of petrochemical facilities. Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, and smoke may occur. Protective safety clothing may occasionally be required including appropriate construction grade boots, gloves, hardhat, goggles, pants and shirt as needed. Activities include extended periods of standing, sitting or kneeling and extensive work with measuring devices and other machinery.
