II. Job Summary:
The Training Instructor is responsible for delivering hands-on training, classroom instruction, and practical shop experience to prepare students for employment in various construction and manufacturing roles. The Training Instructor will teach courses focused on core skills used in the building trades and manufacturing. The Training Instructor will guide individuals with little to no background in construction or manufacturing toward the next level of learning accredited certificates and/or preparing for apprenticeships or workplace readiness programs within 4-12 week time frame.
III. Job Responsibilities:
Training Instructor perform a wide range of duties including but not limited to the following:
· Collaborate with the Training Coach/Case Manager and other EMERGE staff to assess participants’ skills, interests, and aptitude results.
· Stay informed on the intake, assessment, and enrollment of participants in credentialed training programs.
· Teach basic math for trades and blueprint reading.
· Proctor skills tests, including CASAS and OSHA 10 safety instruction.
· Instruct on the proper use and handling of all hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
· Teach assigned courses at various times and locations based on org.& institutional needs.
· Make continuous efforts to enhance the quality of instruction and curriculum.
· Develop and use diverse teaching methods and materials to help students with different educational and experiential backgrounds achieve course outcomes.
· Track participant/ student progress.
· Perform any other tasks and duties necessary to support the agency's mission.
IV. Position Requirements:
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in education or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
· Experience in developing curriculum and/or instructional plans.
· 3 years of full-time experience in adult education, training, or teaching.
· Knowledge of construction trades, apprenticeships, and manufacturing careers.
· Preferred experience in providing coaching support to participants enrolled in credentialed training programs and collaborating with multiple community and education partner

V. Working Conditions and Environment:
Second Chance: Incumbent will have a designated workspace in a typical office or classroom environment. The building is two levels and fully accessible and is smoke-free. Work will include regular local travel. Working hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8 am-5:00 pm, but will include regular evening and Saturday hours. Occasional work from home opportunities may be available. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, sometimes loud.
