Position Summary
The Department of Criminal Justice at IU South Bend is comprised of amazing teacher-scholars, students, and staff. We are currently seeking qualified applicants for a Full-Time Lecturer position beginning August 1, 2025. The standard course load is 4/4, and successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to quality instruction and be willing to engage in service activities. A Masters in Criminal Justice or Criminology is required with a PhD in Criminal Justice or Criminology preferred. Successful applicants should have teaching experience and/or be able to teach in core courses such as Introduction to Criminal Justice, Research Methods, and Criminological Theory. Although specialization is open, teaching experience in at least two of the following areas will be given preference: Research Methods, Criminal Justice Statistics, Corrections and Criminal Justice, Race and Crime, Comparative Criminal Justice Systems, Terrorism, and/or Courts and Criminal Justice. Applicants with a PhD in hand by August 1, 2025 will also have the opportunity to teach in our new Criminal Justice Track Masters in Public Affairs program.
The Department of Criminal Justice is in the College of Arts and Sciences within the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. The Center for a Sustainable Future, the Civil Rights Heritage Center and the American Democracy Project are all housed in the College of Arts and Sciences. The faculty of 130 teacher-scholars is defined by a spirit of collegiality and collaboration. The Criminal Justice department serves over 150 criminal justice majors and 40 minors, who pursue a variety of career paths, as well as post-graduate study. Through innovative courses, our criminalistics lab, and extracurricular opportunities like our active Criminal Justice Student Organization, we offer a transformative learning experience that prepares our students for both professional success and active citizenship.

  • Online teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated success working with diverse faculty and student populations
