TITLE: PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN CLASS: Non-Exempt
PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Engages critical thinking skills to produce motor vehicles from special project units to routine ambulance remounts. A person in this position must have normal range of motion, dexterity to work with small parts in small spaces, and possess good time management. Suitable comprehension of 12 volt wiring systems, aluminum welding skills, and basic carpentry are necessary for this position. He/she may assist with other duties as assigned.
Essential Physical Requirements:
1. Good physical condition such as to permit occasional lifting of objects weighing in excess of 35 pounds, standing, walking, crouching, and applying rotational body movements for extended periods of time. 2. An employee with this title must have common mental acuity to solve problems & implement solutions. 3. An employee with this title must meet minimum requirements of Emergency Services pre-employment physical examination and drug screen.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
A. High School Diploma or G.E.D.
B. Working knowledge of automotive repair and familiarity with emergency vehicles and related vehicle on-board equipment
C. Strong knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair and maintenance of a variety of automotive and mechanical equipment ranging from passenger cars to heavy trucks. Strong understanding of operating principles associated with gasoline and diesel engines.
D. Locating, correcting, & adjusting defects in complex vehicular and mechanical equipment; performing skilled work in repairing, overhauling, & maintaining gas & diesel powered automotive equipment; interpreting & working from charts, technical manuals, software & diagrams; using and caring for tools and equipment used in vehicular & mechanical repair work, maintaining detailed and routine records. E. Ability to work well with others and accept direction from supervisors.
F. Effective written and verbal communication skills
G. Basic software and Google Workspace skills
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Employees in this position primarily work in the climate controlled area of the Service Department.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
(The following examples are intended to be descriptive but not restrictive)
1. Fabrication of parts from raw materials to include simple flanges to complexly designed aluminum parts. 2. Performs troubleshooting of problem areas.
3. Installs 12 volt emergency vehicle lighting system.
4. Mounts and dismounts modules and chassis
5. Builds/replaces countertop and cabinet systems
6. Remains abreast of industry standards and trends.
7. Performs work to meet manufacturer as well as State and Federal requirements
8. Communicates effectively with manager & team members to achieve department goals
9. Attends company meetings and trainings
10. Accepts other responsibilities and projects as assigned
11. Efficiently uses their time to effectively meet deadlines

Experience with either Interior Assembly (working with wood, lexan and flooring), General Assembly (good with hand tools & electrical), and Fabrication/Welding (bench work building parts, aluminum and steel).
