Description
EmergeOrtho is committed to being the trusted leader in innovative, quality-focused comprehensive musculoskeletal care, with offices across North Carolina. The Workers' Compensation Specialist is responsible for facilitating access to this practice for the Workers' Compensation patients in regard to communications and required authorizations.
This is an in-office position
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Extensive knowledge of state and local workers' compensation laws and rulings is necessary.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and medical practice software
  • Minimum of one year of general clerical work experience, preferably in a medical office or hospital medical records department.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and Confidentiality rules and regulations.
  • Must be able to operate office equipment including but not limited to printer, copier, and fax machine.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, time management skills, and accurate typing and data entry skills required.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Professional and courteous phone demeanor.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to attend work on a daily basis and in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Coordinates follow up services authorized for the Workers' Compensation patients via clinical orders
  • Obtains appropriate authorization for the surgical patient who has Workers' Compensation
  • Coordinate the exchange of patient notes to insurance companies, case managers and employers
  • Report all work status updates to the adjuster, case manager and/or employer
  • Receive and resolve Workers' Compensation phone calls in accordance with department policy and procedure
  • Communicate pertinent information with the attending physician
  • Review records in order to facilitate the physician narrative report and scheduling of depositions, as directed
  • Maintain a pleasant, cooperative demeanor while performing all duties
