Job DescriptionOur client, a fashion lifestyle brand based in Dallas, TX, is hiring a Director of Production and Product Development.
Position OverviewThe Director of Production will oversee the entire production process, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and innovation. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in goods manufacturing, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the fashion industry.
Key Responsibilities
  • Production and Product Development Management:
  • Oversee the end-to-end production process, from design pass-offs to final product.
  • Ensure timely and efficient production schedules and strategies while maintaining quality standards.
  • Track, monitor, and review prototypes and calendar deadlines in partnership with the Creative Director and Founders.
  • Create and maintain Annual Production and Development Calendar and ensure all key deliverables are being met to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Maintain all trackers and production systems, including factory production and shipping dates and communicating pertinent information.
  • Issue and track purchase orders in partnership with Leadership Team. Create and track ad hoc purchase order reporting as requested.
  • Review design final samples in partnership with Creative Team.
  • Develop and manage orders for merchandise.
  • Update and maintain line-sheets and in-office visual board.
  • Create materials library and sample archives in Dallas.
  • Quality Control:
  • Establish and maintain rigorous quality control standards in partnership with in-country team.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with quality benchmarks. Travel to factories in Mexico will be required. Visits to local Dallas distribution center will be required to audit final arrival of product.
  • Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance product quality.
  • Manage fit and fit testing for products.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management:
  • Cultivate strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Coordinate factory trips and agendas.
  • Oversee in-country Production Manager and Quality Control Agents and Manage Production Team as it develops.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms to ensure favorable pricing and quality.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues promptly.
  • Research, develop, source and counter-source leathers
  • Identify new in-country vendors and sourcing strategies as relevant to business in partnership with in-country Production Manager.
  • Optimize pricing for all aspects of production through research and development (e.g. boxes, insoles, heels, etc.)
  • Budget Management:
  • Manage the production budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Improve company product margins.
  • Assist in development of company sales plans based on product launch and delivery calendar.
  • Identify and communicate sales risks opportunities.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
  • Monitor and report on production expenses and financial performance.
  • Partner with Planning Team on Forecasting and Buy Reviews. Maintain a clear understanding of the Open to Buy report.
  • Partner with Planning Team to generate Weekly Selling Report.
  • Innovation and Trend Analysis:
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and innovations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with Creative Directors, Merchandising, Marketing, Operations and Retail teams to ensure alignment of production with business objectives.
  • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes.
  • Inventory management in partnership with Operations and Retail teams.
  • Manage product setup process.
  • Communicate effectively across departments to ensure seamless operations.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in production management, preferably in the fashion industry.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing production teams.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, quality control, and supply chain management.
  • Proficiency in Mircorosft Office and production software and tools. Experience with Shopify and Brightpearl a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for craftsmanship and fashion goods.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with an entrepreneurial spirit. Be excited and willing to pitch in where needed.
  • Must be a team player. Foster a collaborative and kind work environment.
