Emerson Community Clinic & Research Institute is Hiring a Community Outreach Specialist Near Washington, DC

Emerson Diversity Health Foundation (EDHF)—a 501(c)3 nonprofit—is to promote health equity and educate vulnerable populations about health issues, healthy behaviors, and the importance of participating in clinical trials. EDHF supports the Emerson Community Clinic (ECC), a division of the Emerson Clinical Research Institute (ECRI), to provide free health education, screenings, and low-cost medical care to underserved communities, especially those of Hispanic and other racially diverse origins, in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area (Washington, DC, MD, No. Virginia). TIME COMMITTMENT:

 This is a full-time position with a minimum of 40 hrs. a week.

 A maximum of two weekend days per month may be scheduled. RESPONSIBILITES INCLUCDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: The position is responsible and accountable for providing direct patient education, patient screenings, provide health care resources, and clinical research resources.

JOB DUTIES:

 Manage a territory and small portfolio of clients to ensure that you successfully deliver EDHF/ECRI/ECC health resources and education at various Consulates and other community spaces such as grocery stores and non-profit organizations in the Greater Washington region.

 Key relationship manager for territory clients to include Consulate representatives, and community partners.

 Successfully ensures that ECRI/EDHF/ECC health education, awareness and clinical trial access goals are met to include providing patient education, health screenings, appointment scheduling and follow up as needed.

 At client sites, actively recruits community members for clinical studies to include taking patient vitals, i.e., blood pressure, height, weight, phlebotomy, and EKG.

 Delivers reports of activities conducted.

 Identifies and recruit agencies that can support ECRI/ EDHF/ Clinic programs and priorities.

 Identifies and/ or attends community activities and health fairs as appropriate and assigned to include consulate, partner and ECRI/EDHF/Clinic sponsored activities.

 Collaborates with ECRI Study Coordinators and other ECRI/ Clinic colleagues as assigned and needed to include data entry, patient scheduling, and patient follow-up calls.

 Attends EDHF and ECRI staff meetings at the ECRI Office in Washington, DC.

 Performs other tasks as assigned. REQUIREMENTS:  High school diploma required.

 Associate degree or equivalent work experience, within Community Engagement, Biology, Pharmacology, or a health-related field of study, preferred.

 Able to effectively work independently at client sites.

 Meets/ exceeds deadlines and goals.

 Proficient in Google or Microsoft Office Suite and other web-based systems.

 Bilingual: English and Spanish; written and spoken.

 Initiative-taker that demonstrates excellent people skills.

 Ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment.

 Is organized and demonstrates excellent time management skills.

 Has a working vehicle. ADDITIONAL BENEFITS:

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires physical effort. Incumbent must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. This position does involve direct contact with patients. For those qualified, it may on rare occasions include performing phlebotomy procedures. Occupational Health and Safety Risks include potential exposure to blood borne and airborne pathogens, thus candidate must ensure to always use universal precautions when managing biological samples, and supplies. This position may involve occasional scheduled travel, including by airplane, to attend EDHF leadership meetings.

Pay: $24.12 - $25.38 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
