Emerson is Hiring an Assistant Plant Controller Near Orange, VA

Job DescriptionIf you are a Finance professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! As an Assistant Controller, you will be a key financial leader and work closely with the Orange plant leadership and the Plant Controller on a wide range of hands-on accounting tasks. We are looking for a candidate that has the desire and skills to quickly grow into a larger financial leadership role at our facility.
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Assist the Controller with managing the local general ledger through the monthly close process and account reconciliations; prepare, review & analyze monthly financial statements and maintain all accounting processes and ensure compliance to US GAAP.
  • Analyze and report on operational results against forecasts.
  • Assist the plant leadership in the use and understanding of financial data and performance and cost-related metrics and provides the management team with actionable decision support analysis.
  • Manage the product costing process for the plant. Complete the annual standard cost build, reviewing data that impacts material purchase costs, as well as developing labor and burden rates to support full absorption costing model based on expected forecasts.
  • Assist with the Implementation of financial systems, policies and procedures as required by Emerson and/or Professional Tools management as such relate to the Orange VA Plant Operation.
  • Investigate and assist in the development, justification, and post-completion follow-up of capital investments.
  • Protect the assets of the company via involvement in the development of internal controls, the taking of physical inventories, and involvement in other related financial functions.
  • Actively participate in the Professional Tools cost reduction/continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.

You seek ways to improve processes, from small tweaks to complete reengineering.
For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4 or more years of experience in a manufacturing finance function.
  • Prior experience with preparing balance sheets, P&L's, and other financial statements to complete required financial analysis.
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as JDE, SAP, etc.
  • Advance knowledge and experience with Excel
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
  • CPA or CMA certification
  • Cost accounting experience
  • 6 or more years of experience in a manufacturing finance function.
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to comfortably communicate financial information to senior levels in the organization.
  • Strong business acumen, critical thinking, and analytical/technical skills
  • Self-confidence, ability to present position in difficult situations
