Emerson is Hiring an Electronics Maintenance Technician Near Orange, VA

Job DescriptionEssential Functions:
  • Reads and \interprets board layouts, schematics and BOMs
  • Tests Faulty equipment and applies knowledge of functional operation of electronics to diagnose cause of the malfunction and repair.
  • Adjusts, modifies and repairs electronic systems, works from sketches, layouts, and diagrams;
  • Recommend changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
  • Maintains electric and electronic test equipment.
  • Checks functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
  • Disassemble manual equipment and replace with new or repaired parts.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools, and simple machine tools to repair manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
  • Performs any General Maintenance duties as needed.
  • Attends annual hazardous waste training and D.O.T. general awareness training
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school or equivalent
  • 1 to 2 years maintenance experience and / or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Good computer skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Good math skills required
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to maintain records and reports.
  • Forklift license (on-the-job training provided)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in maintenance/engineering or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • 2 years of manufacturing experience
  • Positive results-oriented attitude

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to: Stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk; hear; lift and/or move up to 25 pounds & frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Occasional sitting is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to: fumes or airborne particles; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions. Occasional exposure to: wet and/or humid conditions; toxic orcaustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
