The Financial Analyst is responsible for performing various budget, expense management, and accounting functions. This role will partner with cost center managers to analyze expenses, create and update management reports, gather data and analyze it, develop and maintain Enterprise expense metrics and dashboards, perform benchmarking, and provide support for the annual Enterprise budget process.

This position will also serve to support the expense management directors to proactively manage expenses for our shared service function. This includes providing support for expense forecasting, month-end and year-end close processes, accounting for internal developed software, and other functions as needed. Additionally, this position will help support the related financial measurements and accounting for OneAmerica Financial large programs and projects.

What you will do:

  • Reporting – Assist in the annual budgeting process for the shared service functions, manage monthly variances, accruals, and variance analysis. Consolidate large volumes of data into easily understood and actionable information. Drive for understanding around how we are doing on expenses and other key metrics.
  • Accounting - Provide support for expense accounting during the monthly, quarterly, annual close process. Including prepaid expenses, accruals, expense capitalization, etc.
  • Analysis – Determine what trends are emerging on expenses by analyzing expense variances and providing stakeholders with various analysis to proactively manage expenses. For instance: Can we point out risks and opportunities? Where can we be more efficient? What expense initiatives are working, which ones need to be reviewed?
  • Creativity – Design reports to effectively communicate to a broad audience in a consumable way. Manage large data sets and link information together to provide new insights
  • Projects – Where can we invest to have an impact to improve the accuracy of our work, provide more useful information and speed up delivery to leadership and the business?

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other business field
  • CPA license or actively working towards preferred, but not required.
  • 2 or more years of work experience in finance, accounting or other comparable field
  • Strong communication (written and oral), critical thinking, and attention to detail skills.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making acumen.
  • Excellent problem solver and collaboration skills.
  • Forward thinking.

This selected candidate will be expected to work hybrid in Indianapolis, IN. The candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office in CA, IN or ME as business needs dictate or for team-building and collaboration.
