Encircle is Hiring a Bilingual Case Support Specialist Near Newport, VA

Do you enjoy and have experience working with children? Do you want to make a positive impact on the community? Join our team in Newport News, VA supporting unaccompanied immigrant children as part of a vibrant, supportive team!

EnCircle’s new Long-Term Foster Care program will serve unaccompanied immigrant children in the custody of Office of Refugee Resettlement who will be living with foster families while attending public school, working through the immigration process, and preparing for independence. Our Bilingual Case Support Specialist will assist Case Managers with the documentation, client contact, and foster parent contact processes. You will also be responsible for providing transportation for clients and assisting with scheduling appointments for clients.

Our Bilingual Case Support Specialist may also perform case management support services to children including but not limited to reuniting the family, ensuring the child’s safety, maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of all provided services, and conducting court appearances as a support to the case managers. You may also be expected to function effectively with moderate supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, REQUIREMENTS AND PREREQUISITES

  • High School diploma plus 3 years paid experience working with youth will be considered.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services plus one year either paid internship or volunteer experience working with youth preferred.
  • At least one (1) year of experience working with medical providers, at least two (2) years of experience working with medical providers, strongly preferred.
  • Child welfare and/or case management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish, required.
  • Prior experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations is preferred.
  • Trauma-informed training for serving immigrant or vulnerable populations is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must be detail oriented and have effective organizational skills.
  • Skilled at computer literacy and typing skills including usage of computer software and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Exhibit an ability to apply the principles of logic and critical thinking with problem solving.
  • Must have an ability to provide excellent and compassionate customer service.
  • Must be reliable with time sensitive deadlines and tasks.
  • Exercise a high level of confidentiality.
  • Work well under pressure and adaptable to change.
  • Computer and typing skills sufficient to perform essential job functions.
  • Active motor vehicle license and a reliable vehicle with adequate insurance coverage
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries.
  • Willing and able to be on an on-call rotation and work a variable schedule including weekend and evening hours.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Case Managers with essential paperwork and documentation.
  • Provide case management support to the case managers and assist with the coordination of community referrals.
  • Ensure effective operations through selection, training, motivation, evaluation, and development of a competent on-site medical coordination team.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date information on foster children in care while meeting DHHS, ORR, and internal documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure documentation and filing compliance with all required forms in accordance with the agency, state licensing, and ORR.
  • Manage and maintain the record-keeping process to ensure there is an effective filing system in which information is forwarded smoothly.
  • Ensure the child’s safety while in care.
  • Administer case notes and documentation within the UC Portal in a timely manner based on guidelines and procedures set forth.
  • Assist Case Managers in maintaining contact with clients and foster families Coordinate meetings with foster parents and foster children at least monthly.
  • Assist Case Managers in maintaining accurate and up-to-date information on foster children in care in accordance with ORR and internal documentation standards and reporting requirements.
  • Collaboratively work with direct supervisor to schedule and prioritize work duties.
  • Attend training as required by supervisor.
  • Transport and accompany youth to immigration hearings or procedures, as requested.
  • Provide transportation to clients for but not limited to medical appointments, and other social agencies.
  • Schedule and prioritize work duties in partnership with supervisor and other team members.
  • Report transportation problems that occur and impede timely transportation request.
  • Stay abreast of all agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements related to social services;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
