Position HighlightsSign On Bonus: $5,000.00
Position: Social Worker, Adolescent & Young Adult Behavioral Health
Location: Highland Park Hospital
Full Time/Part Time: Full-Time (40 hrs/wk)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-4:00PM
Required Travel: N/A
What You Will NeedEducation: Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work required
License: (LSW or LCPC) LCSW license required
Experience: At least two years post graduate experience in individual, family and group therapy with psychiatric population and specialized experience in adolescent/young adult psychiatry. Experience in psychiatric case management preferred.
Skills: Ability to work within a healthcare environment; strong team work and crisis intervention skills; knowledge regarding state and federal laws related to abuse and neglect as well as The Illinois Mental Health Code; willingness to learn insurance case management and payer requirements; knowledge of social work ethics including patient confidentiality; knowledge regarding age-specific developmental issues; ability and willingness to work with diversity.
What You Will DoThe social worker provides direct social work services to psychiatrically acute patients and their families as part of the Adolescent & Young Adult Behavioral Health Unit multidisciplinary healthcare team, including psychiatrists, nurses, mental health counselors, recreational therapists and educational specialists, at a JCAHO accredited inpatient unit.
  • Social workers address the psychosocial needs of patients and their families in order to enable them to participate fully in the plan of care.
Job Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Complete biopsychosocial mental health assessments
  • Provide evidence based counseling, crisis intervention, family therapy, and group therapy
  • Assess and manage cases of suspected abuse and/or neglect
  • Advocate for patient rights (e.g. as per The Illinois Mental Health Code)
  • Collaborate with outpatient treatment teams
  • Facilitate appropriate transition to next level of mental health care
  • Provide support to utilization review as needed
  • Opportunities to supervise Master’s level interns may be available
