The Role

The Director of solvent extraction is responsible for the coordination of all solvent extraction R&D, bench and pilot testing. This role will review all reported data, summarize, make recommendations for experimental design, and develop weekly targets with the CTO. The Director of Solvent Extraction will design experiments with the Pilot Plant and R&D lead to ensure the test work will meet the commercial needs of the company. The Director of Solvent Extraction will report to the CTO.

Responsibilities

Work with a team of experienced EnergyX scientists in research and development focused on disruptive materials, processes, and engineering systems to fundamentally transform the energy industry. Specific responsibilities include:

• Provide direction in the design of experiments such that processes developed meet industry needs and are cost effective.
• Provide process optimization for the solvent extraction pilot operation.
• Review and present work generated by the solvent extraction team.
• Provide technical support to the operations team and manage the solvent extraction R&D operation.
• Present in a clear manner the solvent extraction technology to customer and answer technical questions surrounding the use of the process.

Basic Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of five years in a role directly operating, improving, and/or optimizing a solvent extraction process on either a pilot or commercial scale.

• Minimum 10 years laboratory/industrial work and project management.

• Ability to motivate, manage, train and develop a large team
• Strong organization skills
• Ability to review work, write summaries and present pertinent information. 
• Must understand commercial R&D needs versus academic 

Desired Qualifications

• Understanding of lithium DLE processes
• Experience in testing or developing new solvent extraction processes.
• R&D experience a plus but not required.
