ENGIE North America Inc. is Hiring an Engineering Intern Near Oakland, CA

The Engineering Intern supports the Operations team in developing opportunities, in the feasibility, detailed opportunity assessment, and construction phases while growing and expanding their experience in the workforce. The Engineering Intern will be working in a team based environment, at the direction of their Mentor as well as their supervisor.

What you'll do:

  • Assist with lighting, HVAC, and water surveys to learn to identify energy savings opportunities
  • Participate in preliminary utility data evaluation to verify existing customer loads and assist the Operations team in calculating energy and water cost savings.
  • Learn about renewable energy site surveys, design considerations, and work with metering and measurement tools and data
  • Assist Operations team in performing savings analysis including comparison of technologies, savings calculations, scopes of work and contractor bid costs for lighting and water measures using tools such as eQuest, Energy Pro and Excel spreadsheets, including bin simulations
  • Emerging understanding and use of various renewable energy calculations using the Helioscope, PVSyst modeling and Energy Toolbase tool
  • Assist Operations team in preparing Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy Measures scopes and specifications for subcontractor Request for Proposals
  • Assist the Project and Construction Management Advisors on job walks, bid evaluations, contractor negotiations, and during construction meetings
  • Assist during the construction phase of the project by reviewing submittals, change orders, and RFI's using cloud-based management tool; Procore.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor

What you bring:

  • Enrolled in Bachelor's Degree in a related engineering field
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft software programs, such as Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills in report writing and correspondence
  • Excellent communication skills with employees and customers
  • Up to 20% travel, depending on current Operations Team project requirements
  • Able to get from office to off site customers - valid driver's license required

Additional Information/Conditions:

  • Must be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future
  • Must be available to travel up to 20% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license/clean driving record
  • Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE's policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to use a personal computer, calculator, etc.
