Position Description

The HVAC Facilities Service Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems within an industrial facility or group of facilities. This role ensures the efficient and effective operation of HVAC systems to provide a comfortable environment for occupants and meet regulatory standards. The supervisor will lead a team of HVAC technicians, manage service schedules, and coordinate with other departments to support the overall facilities management goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership:
    • Supervise and lead a team of HVAC technicians, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and scheduling.
    • Assist facility management with interviewing and hiring potential technician candidates.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to technicians on complex HVAC issues.
    • Ensure adherence to safety standards and company policies.
  • · HVAC System Maintenance and Repair:
    • Oversee and assist the HVAC technicians with the routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, heating systems, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment.
    • Provide detailed quotes for needed repairs.
    • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
    • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Project Assistance:
    • Coordinate with project management on the HVAC installation and upgrade projects, ensuring timely completion.
    • Collaborate with project management to procure necessary equipment and services.
    • Monitor project progress, assist in resolving issues, and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Budget and Inventory Management:
    • Manage the HVAC facility’s budget, including labor, materials, and equipment costs.
    • Maintain inventory of HVAC supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and cost-effectiveness.
    • Approve purchase orders and manage vendor relationships.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, service requests, and repairs.
    • Generate reports on system performance, maintenance trends, and compliance with regulations.
    • Communicate regularly with facility management and other departments regarding HVAC issues and initiatives.
  • Customer Service:
    • Respond promptly to service requests and complaints from facility occupants.
    • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through effective communication and timely resolution of issues.
    • Conduct regular inspections of HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and comfort levels.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or associate degree in HVAC technology preferred.
  • Certified HVAC technician with a minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial and commercial HVAC maintenance, installation, and repair.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within the HVAC industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and maintenance practices.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and project supervisory skills.
  • Proficient in using HVAC diagnostic tools and software.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment:

  • The role involves working in various environments, including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and outdoor areas.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, high and low temperatures, and other environmental conditions.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and climbing.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions.
