Coordinates the planning and implementation of an Infection Prevention Program designed to prevent and control the transmission of infections in the Medical Center. He/she has the authority to institute any surveillance, prevention and control measures or studies when there is reason to believe that a patient or personnel may be at risk. The coordinator works under the guidance of the manager, the Infection Prevention Committee and its chairperson. He/she assumes responsibility for infection prevention and control activities in the absence of the Manager of Infection Prevention.

**Job Essentials- The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements and competencies:**

• Previous experience and expertise in first line management position commensurate with the clinical demands of the position (1-3 years).
• Broad-based clinical exposure.
• Knowledge, understanding and experience with the practices and principles of Infection Prevention.
• Demonstrated analytical ability to interpret data/statistics, determine areas for improvement and recommend solutions.
• Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with all constituents (including patients, families, physicians, payors, external facilities, other departments, staff).

Education Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
• Master's Degree in Nursing or other Health-Related field preferred.

License, Registration, Certification

• Current NJ State Nursing Licensure required.
• Certification as CIC.
