    This is a one-year-only position with the potential for the position to continue in subsequent years.
    POSITION SUMMARY:
    This position will provide instruction in the area of Cosmetology which includes preparing students to pursue successful careers as hairstylists, estheticians, and manicurists. Student ages will range between 16 and 21. The concentration of this position is to:
    • Produce experienced, licensed, customer service-oriented, and business-minded cosmetologists.
    • Instruct students in theory, techniques, and terminology to ensure students are receiving up-to-date, career-related information.
    • Enrich student development and provide students with the opportunity to acquire the skills required for their success in the 21st Century.
    • Communicate the importance of accuracy, neatness, efficacy, resourcefulness, customer service and excellent work habits as it relates to obtaining and retaining future employment.
    • Mentor and coach future professionals as they prepare to enter a client-focused industry.
    • Create valuable experiences on the clinic floor.
    • Monitor students as they work with clients and provide feedback to enhance their ability and experience.
    • Encourage parent/guardian involvement in student learning through open houses, volunteering, parent/teacher conferences, etc.
    • Develop and promote good community relations among stakeholders.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Create a positive learning environment and effective management structures to purposefully promote and foster effective teaching, learning, and student achievement.
    • Create an instructional learning environment that establishes routines and provides for student engagement through questioning, speculation, and originality.
    • Collaborate with specialists and provide unique learning opportunities such as inclusion and research-based effective practices for students with special needs.
    • Promote a learning environment respecting the dignity of the child that is perceived by students as fair and consistent.
    • Incorporate additional learning opportunities for advanced and non-proficient students.
    • Ensure all classroom processes, procedures and data collection are highly organized and effective with optimal use of instructional time.
    • Motivate, engage, and empower learners to track and monitor his/her learning.
    • Design, develop, and evaluate authentic and innovative learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes aligned with 21st-century learning.
