Job Description

About Enid High School:

Enid High School is a public school located in Enid, OK. The school is a 9-12 grade school with around 2000 students. EHS participates in 6A-1 division of OSSAA and in the Oklahoma Big 7 Conference.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The head athletic coach assumes the extra duty of providing coaching leadership in a specified area of the school’s athletic program. As a part of that leadership responsibility, the head coach delegates responsibility for specific tasks to the assistant coach(es) and must be a member of the Oklahoma Coach’s Association (OCA).

JOB GOALS:

To develop a winning culture as a coach and a winning program (7-12) that results in student athletes whom achieve their potential academically, athletically, socially, and morality.

Job Summary:

Enid High School Athletics is dedicated to developing students to become problem solvers, critical thinkers, effective communicators, technology users, and contributing members to a global workforce and society.

The Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of the Athletic Program, such as recruiting within the school, scheduling opponents (in conjunction with the Athletic Director), training, and coaching team members. The Head Coach must abide by the OSSAA/NFHS rules and regulations, and the rules and regulations set by the Enid Public Schools Board of Education and the athletic administration at Enid High School.

The head coach must have completed prior to coaching any sport: 1) Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries Course every third year and 2) the online sudden cardiac arrest, concussion, and heat illness training course every year. The head athletic coach must have the same work day as a high school teacher

Job Specifications:

Successful candidates must perform essential duties at a professional level. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required):

  • 5 years of experience coaching in specific field at the high school level (head coaching experience preferred).

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good
  • Coordinate the development, promotion, and retention for the Athletic Program from Middle School (7th-8th) to High School (9th-12th). Assist in the alignment of MS to HS program.
  • Hold organizational meetings for team prospects and encourage potential athletes to participate in the athletic
  • Ensure all assistant coaches work together toward a common goal within the program and provide unity within the youth community
  • Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team Ensure proper use of off-season time Fall, Spring, and Summer.
  • Hold a preseason meeting with all student-athletes and parents before the first official practice.
  • Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and trips off school property, encouraging sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic
  • Take all necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, and facilities, including protecting students from hazing/bullying.
  • Maintain and secure all program equipment and

  • Act as a team representative and promote the sport by communicating with the news media, booster clubs, service clubs, and other

  • Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their

  • Represent Enid Public Schools and the Athletic program professionally.

  • Attend head coach’s meetings, staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching
