Job Position: Financial Controller

Entech Staffing Solutions is currently looking for Financial Controller. This is a temporary position 8 to 12 weeks.

POSITION SUMMARY

Manages and supervises all Business Office staff and performs the activities of the accounting and treasury operations, including general accounting, accounts payable, procurement, accounts receivable, payroll, grant & funded projects management, cash management, debt management, annual audit, and all applicable federal, state and local financial reporting.

MAJOR POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervises the day-to-day activities of assigned staff. Duties include hiring, training, coaching, evaluating performance, and when necessary disciplining staff.

2. Creates and ensures organizational accounting procedures, processes and controls conform to generally accepted accounting principles as well as all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies as well as the Uniform Guidance.

3. Monitors compliance on an ongoing basis and provides training as necessary to ensure compliance.

4. Establishes, reviews and maintains appropriate internal controls to ensure the integrity of accounting and financial processes and systems.

5. Develops and supports all funds and determines the proper accounting.

6. Works with grant and or program managers to develop budgets and submit grant draws and related reports.

7. Develops and implements board policy and procedures relevant to the operations of the Business Office.

8. Manages working capital through management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash receipting functions. Prepares and submits borrowing request(s) to the Michigan Department of Treasury for State Aid Notes, Tax Anticipation Notes and/or Lines of Credit as needed.

9. Prepares and enters all journal entries as necessary.

10. Reconciles bank accounts monthly.

11. Prepares reports as required.

12. Reconciles and records investment transactions.

13. Develops and evaluates Request for Proposals (RFP) as necessary.

14. Manages and facilitates document retention processes.

15. Attends appropriate referent group meetings.

16. Prepares the reconciliation for the all insurance bills (health, dental, life, vision, etc.) monthly.

17. Participates in the recruitment, interviewing and hiring of staff.

18. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Four to Five years of related experience such as within a school business office as a general accountant, grant accountant, controller, or comparable position
• Certified Financial Officer (CFO) certification from MSBO is preferred
