Job Description
As an Estimator in our Estimating/Project Management department, you will be responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and developing cost estimates for minor and major projects. The Estimator develops cost estimates needed to make informed decisions on the viability of a proposed new project and provides competitive estimates that align with organizational goals and objectives. The responsibility of this position is managing specialized work efficiently, with confidence and competence. The position requires above average attention to details and strong commitment to completing tasks on time.
Job Requirements include but not limited to:
- · Reviews construction documents and understands scope of work to bid.
- · Executes take-offs of construction documents.
- · Obtains pricing for materials and bids from subcontractors.
- · Prepares cost analysis utilizing computer platform by calculating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items.
- · Responsible for ensuring revenue and profitability requirements are met by providing detailed and accurate job proposals.
- · Maintain up to date knowledge of material costs, customer trends, and latest product information.
- · Maintain positive working relations with all team members.
- · Must manage the proposal process and ensure all requirements are met for a successful proposal submission to client
- · Providing conceptual estimates without much information provided
- · Provide hard bid lump sum competitive estimates
- · Technical writing skills to prepare professional construction proposals to clients.
- · Attend pre-bids conferences
- · Meeting or beating deliverable deadlines.
Qualifications
- · Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field (preferred, not required)
- · Experience in commercial construction management
- · Ability to bid, negotiate and manage commercial construction projects
- · Experience with design build and construction manager at risk contracts is preferred.
- · Customer Service oriented and excellent communication skills
- · Experience with project scheduling
- · Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- · Experience with Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Vista, and WinEst preferred
- · Team player and goal oriented
