Expectations:
The Director of Grounds is expected to have extensive experience managing multiple Grounds contracts and operations in geographically separated areas. The job balances its time working out of EPSI's Grounds warehouse in Buda and its corporate headquarters in Austin. Irrigation, Arborist, Applicator, landscape nursery, and other like certifications or experience are a major plus. However, the most important aspects of this position include strong communication skills, integrity, organizational skills, and above all else, leadership.
This position involves the following duties:
· Direct, mentor, hire, fire, coach, support and develop staff to reach established goals for the individual and company; must lead teams with dignity and respect while always representing our company values on the job and setting the example for work ethic and reliability.
· Serve as the face of EPSI for our customers and establish positive relationships by consistently communicating with them regarding their needs and concerns.
· Interpret Grounds Maintenance contract requirements as outlined in each Statement of Work
· Ensure Grounds Maintenace crews are organized and dispatched reliably each morning.
· Conduct and record Quality Control checks of contract sites.
· Manage invoices, employee timesheets, and work schedules.
· Evaluate and bid on Grounds Maintenance contract opportunities
· Ensure subordinates properly maintain Grounds Maintenance equipment, supplies, and materials
· Be familiar with Central Texas trees and plants and how to care for them; identify/provide information to customers and employees.
· Prepare Grounds Maintenance budgets and financials for efficient service.
· Ensure all work is completed in adherence to safety policies and contract requirements.
· Conduct safety training and safety inspections.
· Evaluate warehouse and worksite organization and recommend improvements.
· Identify and resolve training issues.
· Must have exceptional interpersonal skills and know how to work with customers.
· Develop and recommend improved work methods and standards.
· Recommend staffing levels to accomplish production schedules and forecast staff and material needs to complete future jobs
· Maintain a high level of good housekeeping and care of company assets in the field, vehicles, shop, field offices and customer worksites.
· Investigate accident or safety violations, prepare appropriate reports, take actions to correct and prevent future occurrences; define and implement solutions to recurring accidents or most common hazards.
· Develop and recommend improved work methods and standards.
Education, Experience & Requirements:
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in Grounds Maintenance/Landscape industry with commercial Grounds experience.
· Experience with a broad range of commerical Grounds Maintenance equipment.
· Minimum of 5 years experience supervising Grounds Maintenance crews.
· Proficient with computers and technology including Microsoft Office, tablets and smart devices.
· Ability to read plans and layout projects.
· Knowledge of plants and soils.
· Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment while operating with a high sense of urgency.
· Clean DMV record.
· Strong work ethic.
· Effective oral and written communication skills.
· Able to pass a background check.

Starting salary is negotiable based upon experience.
