Enumclaw School District is Hiring a Payroll Specialist Near Enumclaw, WA

Job Overview:

We are seeking a service and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately processing payroll, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring accuracy in all payroll-related matters.

Duties:

  • Process and update employee records related to payroll, including pay rates, new enrollments, deductions, direct deposits, authorizations, retirement and benefit data. Ensure that timesheets, absentee records, and other ongoing input for payroll are collected, verified, and posted accurately and according to schedule.
  • Assist with reporting requirements for the Internal Revenue Service, the Social Security Administration, Labor and Industries, Puget Sound Worker's Compensation Trust, Retirement and other agencies.
  • Assists in the preparation of quarterly reports for state and government agencies as required by law.
  • Perform special payroll processing activities such as retroactive pay increases, fiscal year start-up, contractual changes, and end of year processing.
  • Process documentation to maintain compliance with child support agencies, Internal Revenue Service and district sources regarding payroll wage garnishments and levies.
  • Provides a variety of required external and internal reports and summaries related to payroll.
  • Assure accurate records for state funding reports, monitors and corrects data, and prepare reports.
  • Research and analyze district and peer payroll records for bargaining and budgeting purposes.
  • Communicates clearly and regularly with district employees regarding payroll needs and inquiries.
  • Seeks opportunities to learn and grow in the areas of payroll and related functions.
  • Work in an office environment, experience interruptions, meet inflexible deadlines, and perform tasks requiring dexterity and precision as well as concentration on details.

Requirements:

  • Must be a high school graduate with some post high school coursework in accounting, bookkeeping, and data entry and/or degree preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of two years of experience in an automated payroll system. Experience in Skyward/WESPAC, Aesop or other main-frame and relational database systems preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn specific rules, laws, regulations, contract language and policies quickly and apply them to a variety of transactions without immediate supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work at a fast pace and maintain accuracy including compiling data and completing records and reports, and perform accurate mathematical computations.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize multiple deadlines in a busy office.
  • Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written directions.
  • Excellent calculator and 10 key skills.
  • Must be able to meet the staff and public in a tactful and courteous manner when responding to questions and possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work.
  • Must maintain confidentially.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $34.53 - $38.89 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
