Envases US Aluminum Division is Hiring an Instrumentation & Electronics Technician Near Woodway, TX

Brief DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:The Instrumentation & Electronic Technician(s) is responsible for the efficient, safe, and reliable operating condition of the site manufacturing control and electrical systems. The Technician must be multi-skilled to manage, maintain, and troubleshoot site’s electrical power systems, instrumentation, motor controls, PLC, HMI, data systems, and factory control infrastructure (servers, PC’s, and networks).
Essential Job Functions
  • Provide support during machine installations and upgrades
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain high-speed, industrial process aluminum can end- making equipment (i.e., power, lighting, control, and PLC logic controls for all production process and control equipment) which will include all electrical power (24 to 600 volts), automation controllers, VFDs, transducers, proximity sensors, and inspection devices and support building and facilities maintenance.
  • Maintains and repairs electronic instrumentation and equipment to provide reliable, well maintained equipment to ensure service quality
  • Advanced understanding and ability to troubleshoot, replace, and configure sensors and instrumentation such as photo-eyes, proximity switches, pressure, flow, level and temperature sensors
  • Advanced understanding and ability to troubleshoot, configure, and replace non-similar motor control components
  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical schematics for use in system understanding and troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoot and program automated facility control equipment, calibrate required safety devices, manipulate facility valves to receive the desired operating status
  • Operational knowledge of an oscilloscope & multi-meter, soldering wires & connectors, operation of various crimping tools, wire stripping, ohm’s law, continuity testing, pinning out a military type connector, routing & tie wrapping cables, drilling & tapping holes, and building junction boxes
  • Performs field calibrations using multimeter to test pH, conductivity, flow, pressure, humidity, RTD, thermocouple, and other levels as needed
  • Troubleshooting all electronic and data acquisition equipment; Adjust, repair or replace faulty components
  • Identify and recommend changes to improve plant performance utilizing existing or new control systems; make program modifications in PLC’s logic, HMI’s programs and servo controller logic to improve equipment performance

Education & Experience
  • Required – High School Diploma or education equivalent required
  • Required - Minimum of 3 years of electrical maintenance in an industrial environment
  • Preferred - Proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLCs
  • Preferred - Proficient in understanding and ability to troubleshoot root cause, configure, and replace non-similar controls hardware, such as input/output modules, human machine interfaces (HMIs), safety relays, and other industrial controls
  • Demonstrates teamwork skills and self-motivation to seek out additional projects or learning opportunities
  • Demonstrates professional ethical integrity to observe company policies, processes and safety protocols
General Skills/Experience
  • Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, Servos, Ethernet and wireless communication systems as related to plant automation
  • Read and interpret planning documents, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, drawings, manuals, blueprints and engineering sketches
  • Working knowledge of all automation standard practices
  • Advanced electrical knowledge and understanding of electrical safety
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to maintain accurate, detailed records that will be audited periodically
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once with tight deadlines
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, the plant and across the company; including ability to handle stress and to interact with others so as to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Ability to work with employees from many different cultures and backgrounds
Software/Computer Skills & Experience
  • General knowledge of basic hardware and software and uses of a variety of different computer operating systems such as Microsoft Office Work, Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace, and web-site software
  • Knowledge in Data Acquisition concepts, hardware, and interfacing

Daily contact with other departmental personnel. Occasionally works in all weather conditions, extreme temperatures, around chemicals and chemical fumes/emissions, dusty & clean environments. Frequently works with electrical and mechanical hazards. When working with surplus and scrap materials, will frequently be required to work outside and/or in an unaired conditioned warehouse. Continuous use of vision, hearing and speech. Frequent sitting, standing, walking and occasional bending. Will lift, carry, pull / push, and reach for supplies and on occasion lifting (up to 50 lbs.) while performing various aspects of the job; Will need to climb stairs, climb ladders, lift and move objects, requires manual dexterity and repetitive use of keyboard/computer devices/power tools/machining equipment; Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
Hours / Special Conditions12 hour rotating shifts 4 days on and 4 days off; Rotating shifts requires working night shifts; Present to fulfill job duties & meet operational demands/support; Schedule may vary depending on plant operational needs thus flexibility is required which may include long days, evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime; Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
