OVERVIEWWe are seeking a passionate and dedicated Health Education Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive health curriculum that covers a range of topics including physical health, mental and emotional well-being, nutrition, substance abuse prevention, and sexual health education.
The ECS Health Education Teacher must have strong speaking and listening skills. Besides being knowledgeable about an activity, they need to be able to communicate and demonstrate it properly. The ECS Health Education Teacher must be able to observe all students and maintain discipline within the class. In addition to students, they interact with parents, other teachers and school administrators. Candidates should be energetic and progressive minded, with a willingness to work collaboratively with all educators at the campus.
Key Responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:

• Use the Environmental Charter School’s health scope and sequence to create purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that support the development of students’ emotional and sexual health and wellness.
• Ensure that lesson plans are aligned to the PE/Health Pennsylvania State Standards and/or the Common Core Standards for Physical Education and Health
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and promotes learning.
• Assess student performance and provide feedback to help students achieve their health education goals.
• Employ multiple strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities, including special education students, gifted education students, and English language learners
• Utilize the Google Suite for document development
• Enter all assignments and grades into the ECS SIS weekly and keep in contact with families about their student’s progress throughout the quarter.
• Keep current in subject matter knowledge and willing to share this knowledge for continual improvement of the school
• Collaborate with other teachers, school counselors, and administrators to support student health and wellness initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Physical Educator Teacher to plan the yearly Fun Day for students
• Actively engage with the school community by attending annual ECS events such as the Sustainability Fair, Open Houses, and other principal designated events

Educational Background And Work Experience

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• PA certification in Health/Physical Education K-12
• 3 years teaching experience preferred
• Demonstrated experience in middle grades-focused health education instruction preferred
• Familiarity with charter schools
• Experience in designing and implementing curriculum preferred

Compensation And Benefits

• Minimum starting salary of $44,216 with consideration given for prior years' professional teaching experience.
